Competition for Young Creatives with Slovak Roots: We’re Looking for Ideas That Won’t Get Blown Away
Do you like humour and creativity? Do you speak English? And do you know why a draught is considered a silent weapon by Slovak grandmas, and why slippers are the foundation of national security? If so, we’re looking for you!
We’re looking for creatives to help the global Slovak diaspora find their way home. Your task is to create a “content package” for our new Instagram account @BabkaApproved.
The Brief: Create a series of posts (memes, Reels) in English that humorously connect people’s possible memories of Slovak ancestors and their customs with today’s world.
- Goal: Show Americans with Slovak roots that their heritage is “cool” — and that Slovak citizenship by descent is the best gift from their ancestors.
- Approach: Tireless grandmas protecting everyone from draughts are a beloved Central European stereotype that can be poked fun at in various ways. The wit lies in connecting these “little Slovak cultural quirks” with the opportunity to obtain Slovak (and therefore European) citizenship.
What can you win?
- Top spots: Everyone whose content we use will receive €100.
- Grand prize: A paid summer internship with the ZIP Citizenship team. You’ll be creating a campaign seen by the whole world!
Criteria:
- Humor: It has to entertain both you and your grandma.
- Skill: Quality visuals, concept, and execution.
- Insight: The ability to identify small cultural quirks of Slovaks — past or present — and make fun of them in a way that also amuses Americans, while weaving in a sense of connection to the ancestral homeland and the opportunity to obtain citizenship.
